England were missing some of their key players, there was no Gerrard, Lampard or Beckham available and it seemed like an England B team were actually taking part.

David Beckham, the England midfield is set to rejoin AC Milan on loan in January thanks to the Italian club reaching an agreement with LA Galaxy.

The 34 year old midfield is very keen to play for Milan as he wants to maximise his chances of being selected in the England squad that will travel to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup.

Beckham has stated that he is still committed to LA Galaxy and remains as passionate as ever about helping grow the game in America.

If all goes to plan then David Beckham’s first game could be against Genoa on the 6th January 2010.

I think it would be very unlikely for any other England fan to disagree with my choice for the best England goal.

During the 1998 World Cup we were blessed with watching Michael Owen play. He was young, had pace and was a real predator in the box.
It comes as no surprise that he scored the best England goal of all time during that tournament against Argentina.

Unfortunately England lost that game and in a way the goal was overshadowed by the David Beckham sending off (when he kicked Simone). Here is Michael Owen’s goal:

All we need now is Michael Owen to return to form and be part of the 2010 World Cup and who knows, we may see that magic again?
Michael Owen is currently playing for Manchester United and with Wayne Rooney a certainty for a place in the starting 11 in South Africa it would be awesome if they could play together up front for out country.

Maradona covered 60 metres in under 10 seconds and took the ball past many England players to strike a perfect goal. In 2002 it was voted ‘Goal of the century’ and rightly so. You can see the goal in the video below.

The city of London is undergoing huge change and preperation has been underway for a number of years now. It looks highly likely that London will be ready for the games and we are hoping to put on a good show.

I personally don’t think it will live up to the Beijing games (especially the opening ceremony) but we do know how to put on a good show and it will be an Olympic games to remember!

I hear the question “Will David Beckham play in the World Cup next year?’ nearly on a daily basis so I thought I would write about.

David Beckham is a funny sort of character, when you think back to his Manchester United days he was an outstanding player that played with the best players in the Premier League (Ryan Giggs, the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes etc) but excelled for his country. I personally think he made a wrong decision leaving Manchester United to go to Real Madrid, for a start he spent a lot of time on the bench amongst other world class players.

Leaving Real Madrid was perhaps a good idea but leaving to go to LA Galaxy was a bad move in my opinion. Ok, so he was one of the best players in the team but I feel he went there for personal reasons such as trying to win popularity in the United States. David and Victoria spent a lot of time at showbiz events and I feel football was perhaps coming second.

Standing down as England captain was a bad move, David was the perfect leader in the team and should have remained captain. So what now? He is still at the Galaxy but there are rumours he is going to Milan which means he isn’t as far away and will be playing regular football. The flying time between LA and England is massive yet from Italy it’s just a few hours.

Could his move to an Italian team have anything to do with trying to get a place in the squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa? I certainly think so! At the moment Beckham is playing some great football and if he keeps it up I think he will be there in South Africa. Perhaps not starting every game but a dominant force than can come off the bench and change the outcome of a game.

I am looking forward to seeing him there!

2009 has been a strange but exciting year in F1. At the start of the year Jenson Button was unlikely to be driving as the Honda team had pulled out of F1 but thanks to Ross Brawn a new team was born – Brawn GP. Jenson Button had to take a large pay cut to ensure he had a place in the team and because the car had been developed heavily last year they had somewhat of a head start over the rest of the field.

The start of the season was dominated by Jenson Button and the Brawn team picking up consecutive wins and 1-2 finished with team mate Rubens Barrichello. However by mid-season other teams had caught up and were proving to be a threat, Red Bull now had a competitive car with Vettel and Webber behind the wheel. McLaren even picked up a win thanks to Englishman Lewis Hamilton.

Roll on to the end of the season and it was a two horse race between Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello thanks to Red Bulls reliability issues. At the Japanese Grand Prix Button secured a fifth place meaning he won the F1 Drivers World Championship and Brawn picked up the constructors title.

With one race left to go I’m sure there will be thousands of England flags being waved at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for the current world champion.

Well done Brawn GP and Jenson Button – you deserved it!
